What’s on Show. For those who have not been to the Torbay Steam Fair before, here is a summary of what you will find. There will of course be numerous Steam Engines, from very large ones to toy size models. Many of the Engines will be working as they were during their working days. They will be driving Fairground Rides, big saws (cutting timber), threshing drums (which separate the corn from the stem) Rolling Roads and Hauling loads. For the first time this year there will be the Steam Ploughing Demonstrations, and the old tyme Boxing & Wrestling Booth. There will be numerous Vintage and Classic Cars, Motorbikes, Commercial Vehicles, Tractors (some working), Old Farm Engines and of course our usual Military Display. The Models and Craft Tent will be full to the brim once more, whilst there will be a nice selection of Market stalls to browse around and purchase something nice. Displays ranging from Old Blowlamps to Salt & Pepper Pots adds to the flavour. Other interesting displays will include a demonstration of rope making, and even a Mobile forge where you can see Metal being bent to all shapes. In the Events ring there will be parades of all the Steam and Mechanical vehicles and also a Tug of War with a Steam Engine for the Children, and the chance to Steer a Traction engine for the ladies. For Bird lovers there will be Birds of Prey and Parrots, and for the Children a Free 25 minute Puppet Show and a chance to meet Cosmo the Clown. We have an excellent Old Time Fairground with Gallopers, Big Wheel, Dodgems and Noahs Ark and a number of various Childrens rides. Old Fairground Organs fill the air with tunes of the past & present.
